I can’t believe winter is almost over. I can’t believe it’s almost March. I can’t believe how fast spring has snuck up on me. Well, almost has. Like with everything else, I thought I had more time to prepare, mentally and literally, for my new endeavor – building a spring capsule wardrobe.
Building a color palette. Am I the only one who struggles with color? To be honest, choosing my color scheme for spring has been the hardest part of all. For 2 reasons:
- I don’t have a favorite color. Every color is my favorite.
- What do you mean white, black and grey aren’t colors?! Shades?! Ugh.
After weeks of debate, I decided not to use any black. “I can go 3 months with absolutely no black. After all, it’s spring – think florals.” In that moment everything changed. It was like a light bulb had turned on in my head. This silk scarf (pictured below) has always reminded me of spring and thats why its the main piece in my spring capsule wardrobe. I’m using navy blue and neutral colors – including a lot of white, my favorite, favorite “color”.
Once my color scheme was set, choosing my items was a breeze. You ready to take a look?? Wow. I’m nervous to show you, all of a sudden it’s real. Ok, here goes.
My goal was to have a 33-37 piece wardrobe, however, I only have 32 items. I’m planning to add a few more items, like a pair of flats and a trench coat. (It’s impossible for me to shop in Ecuador, so, I will wait ’til we are in Europe to purchase these.)
What do you think? Am I crazy to attempt to live with a spring capsule wardrobe of 32 pieces, maybe 35? This is the first time I’m committing to a seasonal capsule wardrobe (3 months). I’m a little nervous. The hubs and I will be traveling through a variety of climates – rain, snow, and hot sandy beaches. Have any of you traveled to different climates with a capsule wardrobe? Do you have any tips? Let me know.
Oh, and if you decide to join the capsule wardrobe fun this spring, let me know so I can check out your progress. Let’s inspire each other!
